Self-Image
There is great value in knowing who you are and how you see yourself. With self-image, we get a better idea of this. Personally, I feel that I have a healthy self-image. I understand that I am made for greatness and I have the motivation to go out and accomplish my goals. I also understand the things that can spark fear in me and hinder my accomplishments. A balance of healthy fear and uncompromising passion for the common good is something that I feel is important in a quality leader.
Taking the Initiative
Having the spark to stand up and take a position of leadership is something that we will all be called on to do at some point. Whether the leadership position is big or small, we are called to lead with virtue. I have had the great privilege to lead a number of initiatives and I am honored for the opportunities to grow in leadership. In lending oneself to leading others, we are allowing ourselves to grow in understanding of ourselves as leaders and also others as members of a team. All of these elements are essential in leading a life of strength and virtue.
Connecting with Others
How do we interact to make friends, business partners, or even just a simple companion while waiting in line for a cup of coffee? In this lesson, I learned the value of being able to cross those bridges of communication in order to attain a common goal. When we begin to connect with others, we must first have the foundation of trust and respect. Without these, we cannot expect our connections to flourish. Creating connections is fundamental in any relationship, especially those that are formed in leadership roles.
Team Building
In being a successful team member and or leader, one ought to promote a character of confidence and passion while also embodying the values of humility and friendship. When individuals come together with these things in mind, the doors to success are opened wide. When part of a team, I seek to build relationships with others and collaborate so as to achieve our goal in a fun, efficient manner. Having a quality team united with one another in a common goal is the key to accomplishing great things.
Personal Growth & Reflection
Learning about yourself is something that can be challenging if you don't allot yourself the proper time and space for reflection. In my own life, I try to take time to reflect on the day to see where things could have gone better or where I encountered something that I really enjoyed. I believe in learning about yourself both through joys and through struggles. Learning how to cope with recurring problems is something that I have found resolve with in regular reflection and communication with those close to me.
